Title: Senior Scientist in Biochemistry
Location: Cambridge Alewife
The Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology Group at Bristol Myers Squibb in Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated biochemist for a Senior Scientist position. The successful candidate will conduct biochemical and biophysical assays and work on expression and purification of recombinant proteins. The candidate should have a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry or a related field with at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience.
Develop, optimize, validate, trouble shoot and execute biochemical and biophysical assays on the interaction of recombinant proteins with small molecule inhibitors
Design protein constructs and express recombinant proteins in E. coli and Baculovirus systems
Perform small to mid-scale protein purifications in house
Characterize basic biochemical and catalytic properties of recombinant proteins.
Analyze and report results to the corporate database and project teams
Experience with plate-based biochemical and biophysical assays and analysis of enzyme inhibition data and binding isotherms
An understanding of enzymology and enzyme kinetics
Ability to independently generate precise, reliable data and skillfully analyze the data
Solid training in molecular biology and biochemistry techniques especially recombinant protein construct design and expression in E. coli and Baculovirus cells
Expertise in protein purification using FPLC and equivalent chromatography systems
Demonstrated ability to characterize recombinant proteins using SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis., and fluorescence spectroscopy, etc.
