About This Role
Biogen's Gene Therapy Accelerator Unit is driving innovation on both technology and drug discovery process fronts to accelerate gene therapies that may one day help transform the way we treat neurological diseases. We are looking for an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated scientist to join our team and contribute to the generation of pioneering gene therapies.

You will work independently and with cross-functional teams to develop and perform molecular and cell-based assays to characterize AAV vectors in vitro as well as support in vivo characterization. Your work supports the development of novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative, neuroinflammatory, and ophthalmic disorders.

What You'll Do

AAV vector characterization by adapting existing protocols and developing new protocols - including genome titer by ddPCR, genome integrity analysis, cell-based functional assays, empty/full particle ratio assays, endotoxin assay, residual DNA, and protein assays
Maintain constant awareness of novel biochemical and biophysical technologies for in vitro characterization
Investigate and implement new analytical and bioanalytical technologies
Establish SOPs and adapt new protocols from literature
Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks, present data to the team, and write study reports
Who You Are
You are passionate about gene therapy research and use your scientific curiosity to drive novel discoveries. You are a forward-thinker, motivated to learn new skills, and are a team player who strives to make an impact on patients' lives.

3+ years (BS) or 1+ year (MS) of experience in an academic or biotech/pharmaceutical industry setting
Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (qPCR, ddPCR, DNA gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, WB, ELISA, etc.)
Strong skillset in mammalian cell culture
Ability to independently design, execute, and analyze in vitro molecular biology experiments
Strong critical thinking, communication, organization, and presentation skills

Preferred Skills

Experience working in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry setting
