Catalent Cell and Gene Therapy is looking to build our Business Development team in the U.S. Specifically we are seeking individuals who will focus on Gene Therapy, Cell Therapy, and Plasmid DNA CDMO business development in the Boston-USA area. We have ambitious growth plans for our business and are expanding our teams quickly.


As a Business Development Director you will join our dynamic Business Development Teams for Europe and North America and your primary role is to evaluate and assess contract development and manufacturing opportunities with our bio pharma customers. You will also align internal capabilities and services with the customers' outsourcing needs for Cell and Gene Therapy.


Catalent Cell & Gene Therapy provides industry-leading GMP development and manufacturing services for cutting-edge biopharmaceuticals such as recombinant viral vectors, next generation vaccines & hard-to-express recombinant proteins and oncolytic viruses.


The incumbent will identify, develop and nurture strategic new business relationships, identify prospects and pursue potential opportunities in order to increase awareness of Catalent's CDMO business within their territory. Primary focus will be in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, with a strategic focus on gene therapy, cell therapy, next-generation vaccines, and oncolytic viruses.


Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:


Responsible for managing the entire CDMO business cycle including identification and qualification of leads
Expand Catalent Cell & Gene Therapy's brand awareness
Develop and execute business development strategy to identify and target potential new clients through effective market, revenue, and literature analyses as well as utilization of existing network
Maintain relationships with key individuals in the industry and have extensive and up to date knowledge of industry trends and key collaborations and partnerships
Contribute to short- and long-term territory business plans through in-depth understanding of revenue streams and potentials
Work with existing clients to maintain relationships and understand long term manufacturing strategies to ensure repeat business
Manage the territory through the use of the company's customer relationship management (CRM) tool and provide forecast reporting to management on a routine basis
Update and maintain the CRM database through rigorous documentation of all communications with clients and potential clients
Responsible for securing new customers and projects, and for maintaining repeat business
Work with senior management to arrange high level meetings with existing clients on manufacturing strategy in order to secure long term collaborations with key clients
Serve as a secondary point of contact for existing clients in order to keep a pulse on needs, relationship status and gain an understanding of future business needs. Be available to hear concerns should other avenues not be productive or preferable for the client
Participate with the Business Development and Technical Teams in the overall process for:
Proposal generation
Responding to requests for information (RFI) or proposal (RFP)
Contract negotiation (MSA)
Provide management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
Work closely with and effectively communicate with other members of the Business Development and Marketing teams, and collaboratively with internal cross-functional teams (ie, Project Management, Process Development, GMP Operations, Quality, and Finance)
Attend and actively participate in industry tradeshows, conferences, networking events, and client on-site and off-site meetings, as well as internal Business Development meetings
Contribute to team and departmental initiatives outside of day-to-day business development activities
Accountable for meeting/exceeding performance metrics including revenue goals
Education & Experience:


BA/BS in a scientific discipline, business, or related field (MS, MBA, or PhD is a plus)
5-10 years of combined business development/sales and scientific/technical experience in the biopharmaceutical CDMO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industries
Experience/understanding of the proposal development process, business quotes, budgeting and managing to defined timelines
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required, experience with Microsoft Project and Salesforce.com is a plus
Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
