Reporting to the Vice President, Program Management & Portfolio Strategy, the Senior Director, Program Management will be responsible for providing leadership for strategic planning and execution of 1-2 of the company's development programs. The Senior Director, Program Management will implement and manage a robust Core Team to drive development strategy and tactical execution of the assigned programs throughout their life cycle (candidate nomination to development and commercialization), ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy and driving achievement of Company goals. They will be responsible for leading the Core team, with the goal of driving cross-functional coordination and communication and develop comprehensive proactive risk identification/mitigation strategies to ensure the program goals are successfully executed within agreed budgets and timelines. They will also work closely with the Company's key functional leaders and subject matter experts to ensure their functions are integrated and aligned with the core team initiatives and overall program goals.


Primary Responsibilities


Oversee development and maintenance of integrated cross-functional project plans including Target Product Profiles to enable accurate financial and portfolio analysis and planning
Oversee all Program Management activities including planning, reporting, global risk assessment and mitigation, and lessons-learned
Foster leadership, strategic thinking, and business acumen while setting high standards that drive alignment, collaboration, accountability and goal achievement within project teams
In collaboration with Project Management, identify and champion best practices in Project and Program Management, including the use of dashboards, templates, tools, and processes to drive efficiency, alignment, and effective planning
Facilitate cross-program reporting and presentation of program information to the Executive Team, functional heads, and other key stakeholders including business partners in the Astellas organization
Contribute to long-range planning (LRP) and budgetary planning at the program level
Facilitate decision-making, collaboration, and problem-solving with people at all levels of the organization to accomplish shared program goals
Effectively manage multiple projects and responsibilities concurrently as needed


About you


Must Have/Required


B.S. degree in applicable discipline and 10+ years' Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry Program Management experience including 3+ years in Rare Disease
Demonstrated success leading a biotech program to goal achievement including the development of complex drug development project strategies and experience leading a program team through a major regulatory filing
Demonstrated experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams
Thorough understanding of drug development at all stages (pre-IND to commercialization)
Track record of delivering in a fast-paced, innovative, dynamic environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient
Reputation for innovative problem-solving with an integrated view of business and scientific issues
Outstanding influencing skills with executive/senior management
Excellent verbal and written communication and facilitation skills; able to distil complex, dynamic problems into clear thoughts and actions
Systemic thinker; anticipates and develops multiple, creative strategic solutions which incorporate in-depth overview of current/future view of the overall portfolio and market
Up to date awareness and current industry trends and competitor products/companies in the gene therapy space
Increases organizational effectiveness and performance by developing and promoting top talent and providing learning and career growth opportunities across the organization

May Have/Preferred


Advanced degree in an applicable discipline such as an MS, PhD or MBA
