Trusted senior thought-leader who directly supports the Head of Corporate Strategy & Business Development - to provide robust, well-informed and transparent analytics to enable leadership to confidently make decisions that shape & drive future growth potential of the BMS portfolio. The leader will continuously manage & prioritize projects for the team (and company) across an extensive and complex book-of-work', while also serve as a critical orchestrator & mediator of discussions and assumption-setting activities across key inputs and stakeholders into the process (including the head of Commercial, the appropriate individual TA/brand Leads, the Head of R&D, and the Head of Manufacturing).


Lead a team of >10 individuals (including BMS headcount and on/off-shore consultants) who provide strategic insight & guidance in direct support of company executives. Team is made up of high-performing strategic analysts who support all financial forecasting efforts around Business Development opportunities (including all partnership/M&A/externalization deals across the entire therapeutic portfolio);
Establishing strategically-informative and standardized outputs to drive the following types of decision-making activities:
Supporting BD assessments, diligence, and delivery of asset and company level revenues - to establish financial thresholds/scenarios that would justify executing certain deals under certain criteria;
Screening/prioritization of BD target opportunities - supporting qualitative scientific rationale with quantitative data for robust assessments, in order to establish short/medium/long-term financial & strategic impacts to the BMS portfolio and overall company growth ambitions;
Developing landscape assessments for key asset classes/MoAs/technologies based on analyst and market level data - to help guide the Search & Evaluation team focus their efforts on identifying attractive/appealing opportunities to pursue;
Assessing the external partnering/deal landscape to identify trends, and opportunities - to help ensure we understand what our competitors are doing, and to stay one step ahead of them
Supporting the triage process of BD opportunity pipeline - to help inform diligence needs, concerns, and optimal focus areas
Produce long-range range-based (L/B/H) revenue estimates for every project that we get involved in (at the appropriate level of granularity/sophistication)
Produce all risk/non-risk-adjusted enterprise financial views/cuts in support of strategy discussions around specific assets, TAs, and/or geographies
Generate & dynamically-maintain SKU-level forecasts for every portfolio product
Work directly with senior Strategy & BD leads to establish the new capability team who provides data-driven insights in support of enhanced Corporate Strategy & BD efforts
Responsible for transparent and defendable revenue forecasts in support of all BD transaction work across all products/TAs
Establish, embed, and maintain a single high-performing BI&A culture across the team
Drive the effective synthesis of Analytics and Insights work product through transparency, inclusiveness and pursuit of diverse perspectives
Understand, demonstrate, and drive adherence to all BMS operating policies
Create, refine, and embed a suite of industry-leading capabilities to drive enhanced BD-related activities, including: Asset/Target Screens, Market Opportunity Assessments, External Pipeline Strategy Assessments, BD Trend Analyses, Equity Analyst Assessments & Tracking, Deal Assessments & Forecasts;
Work with cross-functional senior leaders to establish a best-in-class BD capability for the company - by establishing clear rules of engagement, aligned expectations across various phases of deal assessments, and clear accountability (driven by establishing aligned roles & responsibilities across the cross-functional team);
Ensure that the underlying forecasting assumptions, outputs, scenarios & implications are understood and appropriately interpreted among the most senior decision makers;
Create a seamless transition of work, assumptions, and insights from the pre-deal working team over to the post-deal Commercial and BI&A teams; and
Partner with the broader BI&A organization to create and promote a global culture of diversity & inclusion, develop exciting insight & analytic career paths, and ensure appropriate levels of technical capability and subject matter expertise exists across all levels, functions, and geographies.

BA/BS required (quantitative area of study preferred)
MBA/other graduate degree preferred
10+ Years Pharmaceutical Industry Experience
Extensive Pharma-specific experience forecasting assets/opportunities within the Business Development space
Ability to synthesize complex information sets & successfully communicate simply to the most senior leaders - leading to smart & data-driven decision making
Experience leading cross-functional Matrix teams towards a common goal/deliverable
Experience operating successfully in a complex organizational environment
Experience interacting with senior management, understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight/analytical information requirements
Ability to effectively navigate the complex political environment & highly-emotional context around BD deals
Ability to effectively communicate with & strategically impact members of the C-Suite
Proven track-record of seamlessly managing multiple groups across a broad organization
Draw inferences from disparate pieces of data, identify key findings and link to implications and provide recommendations
Strong creative problem solving skills to answer key business questions
Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities
Superior analytical skills with understanding of qualitative design; data analysis; applied statistics; range based forecasting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to quickly gain and apply therapeutic knowledge
Ability to learn new tools quickly
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures
Proven knowledge of medical or healthcare marketplace dynamics
Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross-functionally and manage a heavy workload
Experience with forecasting/analytics, modeling platforms, data manipulation software and visualization tools (eg SAS, Tableau, Microsoft Suite and MicroStrategy) Familiarity with BMS proprietary applications, including forecasting and financial systems a significant plus
