The Curriculum Design and Development Director is responsible for leading the design and development of sound and innovative learning solutions that align with business objectives and goals. This role is also responsible for managing external vendor relationships as needed. This position is focused on the development of role-based curriculum for positions across Communications to include technology, product, sales, support and operations. This role will ensure alignment to the overall standards of curriculum development. This role will manage all key aspects of the curriculum and instructional design process to include design and development, assessments, and multi-media modalities. The role serves as the trusted partner to the business and collaborates with leadership and business partners across the organization to ensure learning programs are directly tied to business goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Lead, guide, and develop a team of instructional designers to execute on role-based curriculum that ties to business objectives and goals

  • Oversee the design, pilot and launch of new curricula and updates to existing curriculum as needed

  • Execute an agile approach to course design

  • Responsible for sourcing curriculum projects through internal team resources as well as with vendor partners

  • Measures solution effectiveness and scalability of modalities by utilizing continuous feedback loops to identify gaps and recommend and create scalable learning solutions to improve learner retention, job performance and the overall employee experience

  • Ensure a sound and manageable approach to course review and revisions utilizing internal team and SMEs as needed.

  • Oversee the design and development of learning materials in a variety of modalities including print, graphics, audio, video, web and multimedia to support teaching and learning

  • Develop a sustainable approach to train the trainer sessions to ensure training is optimized and programs drive the job performance and skill proficiency of learners

  • Research and make recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, and instructional technologies to support learning

  • Secure appropriate content from vendors, cross-functional departments, and other parties as needed for course development

  • Review, edit and provide feedback to ensure relevant and actionable training of both new and existing curriculum as needed

  • Design, pilot and launch new curriculum as needed

  • Oversee the process for reviewing existing courses for quality, consistency and accuracy

  • Partner with learning and implementation advisor and delivery to execute on learning programs collaboratively and consistently as appropriate


  • 10 years of experience working in an instructional design role

  • 5 years of people leadership

  • Demonstrated experience designing E-learning solutions

  • Proven experience with blended learning and design technologies

  • Advanced consulting skills

  • Proven ability to deliver curriculum solutions in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven results with strategic thinking, creativity, and deployment of training initiatives linked to business outcomes

  • Experience with learning management systems

  • Experience with curriculum development tools such as Captivate, Articulate, Storyline and other related authoring tools


  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field

  • Operations management strongly preferred

  • Experience leading teams in a virtual environment

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry
