Experience Research Director

We are looking for an Experience Research Director who is recognized as an inspiring leader in the field of qualitative insights. You have a deep familiarity with experience design methodologies, user experience principles and industry trends. You're a pro at uncovering consumer needs through a variety of qualitative research methods. And you know how to present sophisticated ideas, so they're easy to understand and can anticipate objections while persuading others to adopt a point of view.
You're a champion of user research best-practices-including methods and measurement! Your communication skills are exceptional and you're an experienced storyteller who's adept at crafting work that persuades, influences and inspires multi-disciplinary teams.
Who you will work with:
The Experience Research & Analytics team builds compassion for the consumer by delivering action-oriented qualitative and quantitative insights across all Nike Direct touchpoints. You will partner with research and analytics, data science, digital product, digital and retail design teams from Nike.com, Nike App, SNKRS, NTC, NRC and Nike Stores to create experiences that are distinctly Nike and serve the needs of the consumer. From exploratory research to concept iteration to summative validation, you will inform how the consumer interacts with our brand across the Nike Direct ecosystem.
What your responsibilities will be:
Maintain a good understanding of our consumers, business objectives and company mission
Constantly be an advocate for our consumers in order to fuel a human-centered product design culture
Partner with data science, analytics, product and design teams as a strategic advisor and an experienced researcher to build consumer empathy while putting consumer needs at the center of the development process
Deliver against your strategic research roadmap-field requests, prioritize against business needs, and define delivery timelines
Apply a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods to discover whitespace opportunities, explore propositions and validate solutions in service of strategic business questions
Design and moderate consumer interviews that elicit authentic behaviors and reactions
Lead synthesis of qualitative findings and present them in a way that advises, influences and shapes product design decisions
After research is delivered, be a thought partner and strategic advisor with internal partners to ensure the insights are being interpreted and optimally applied
What you bring to Nike
8+ years experience in the user research industry at a digital agency, in-house at a brand, or in an academic setting
Bachelor's in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or similar
In-depth experience conducting research globally, including non-English marketplaces
Demonstrable ability to plan, lead, execute and deliver impactful qualitative research, while contextualizing against data captured quantitatively
Expertise in synthesizing findings that translate into relevant insights
