The Infectious Diseases Therapeutic Area of Janssen R&D is performing groundbreaking research on new treatment paradigms and has various assets in late discovery and clinical development. Its Biomarkers team develops and executes strategies that identify and implement novel biomarkers which impact and contribute to our portfolio of R&D projects in the Therapeutic Area. Are you interested in our open position for a Scientific with overall responsibility for the biomarker activities in our hepatitis projects?
Provide leadership to a small team of experienced scientists that defines and executes relevant strategies for biomarker identification and implementation during the different stages of discovery and clinical development of novel treatment modalities, in particular in the context of viral hepatitis B disease.
Develop and deliver on biomarker research plans in hepatitis programs through partnering with other project team members and biomarker scientists. Describe the biomarker gaps in projects and propose adequate technical-scientific approaches that can address these needs.
Identify and validate novel biomarkers from high-dimensional biological data generated from internal projects and/or external data sources. Deliver biomarkers that impact on the progression and the delivery of the hepatitis programs.
Drive scientific collaborations with external partners to gain insights into hepatitis disease biology and patient segmentation from biomarker analyses of clinical samples.
Combine hepatitis disease knowledge with data analysis and statistical expertise to characterize disease mechanisms, mode of action for therapeutic interventions, and candidate biomarkers. Guide data integration, analysis, and interpretation of high-dimensional data from a variety of platforms such as next-generation sequencing, gene expression platforms, flow cytometry, cyTOF, single-cell NGS, proteomics, and spatial omics (IHC/ISH).
Communicate and report (oral and written) on the plans and scientific progress of biomarker investigations in the hepatitis programs to the internal partners, senior leadership, and the external scientific community.
, MD or MD/with and strong interest in biomarker research, preferably in the field of hepatitis, immunology, or immuno-oncology.
Minimum of 12 of relevant post-doctoral professional is required, preferably also in biotech/pharmaceutical R&D.
Supervisory and working in project teams is required.
Proven to build and execute fit-for-purpose biomarker plans in clinical studies through measurement of biomarkers both novel and established; with biomarkers of the innate and adaptive immune response is an advantage.
Experienced with state-of-the-art biomarker platforms (genetic, transcriptomic, proteomics, cellular profiling, single-cell level, ...) in the setting of translational studies, using peripheral and tissue samples.
Acquainted with computational tools for the analysis of high-dimensional biomarker data.
Knowledge of the regulatory, legal and operational requirements of sample collection (biobank), sample analysis and data handling for biomarker analyses in clinical trials.
Solid written and oral presentation skills, with a convincing record of peer-reviewed publications. Ability to clearly articulate scientific and operational concepts of biomarker research across functions and levels.
