We are seeking a Product Manager with strong analytical skills to manage our Southwire Components business.
This individual will work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers championing new product development and driving the overall business through retail and wholesale channels. This is a complex, rapidly growing business that demands excellent organization and data analysis skills.


Description of Duties and Responsibilities

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT


Develops Strategic plans to grow product category. Develop and commercialize all new products in to ensure on-time, on-spec, and on-budget delivery.
Initiates each project via product specs, drawings, material specs, sample requests and cost targets. Utilizes Stage Gate Product Development Process
Assist VP of Sales in electrical and Regional Managers to drive sales growth
Interacts closely with all groups involved in PD process; Marketing, Management, Engineering, Compliance, Supply Chain and Sales.
Manages sample process via daily communications with suppliers and affected teams.
Finalizes product specifications including graphics working with Marketing Communications group.
Ensures production readiness.
Work with the marketing team to define customer needs and oversee the creation of high caliber customer communications.
Negotiates product costs with suppliers to ensure profitability while ensuring competitive pricing to field.
Manages setup and discontinuation when needed of all new SKUs in SAP
Set pricing to meet revenue and profitability objectives as well as assist Dir. Of Product Management in the execution of price increases to the market place.

MARKET ANALYSIS


Regularly monitors market in designated categories for competitor activities and information, market pricing, market size & trends and exploit opportunities.
Annually conducts formal competitor evaluation in key designated categories including analysis of product performance, materials and build processes.
Establishes self as Category Expert.

COLLABORATION


Maintains strong and productive relationships with suppliers in North America and Asia.
Works closely with SOUTHWIRE China office to identify candidate suppliers.
Supports SOUTHWIRE Sales Team in achieving planned sales and profitability targets for designated product lines.
Supports Marketing in development of Packaging, web development and other collateral marketing materials.
Supports Sales organization (sales and customer service representatives) for line reviews.
Supports Sales during Line review preparations and presentations where applicable.
Supports Supply Chain product-sourcing efforts.
Supports Quality Assurance product inspection efforts.
Work closely with sales leadership to develop promotions as needed to drive new business conversions in electrical distribution, retail, MRO and STAFDA channels.
Assist Dir. Of Product Management, Sales, and Marketing teams in the alignment of acquired businesses through various strategic activities and initiatives.
FORECASTS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
Provides quarterly forecast update for each product line.
Closely monitors inventory levels, especially during peak periods.
Manage E&O levels and maximize profitable disposition of goods
Determines and provides product substitution grids to Supply Chain and Customer Service.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements


Bachelor's degree required; experience with Consumer Retail products; basic engineering knowledge/skills; quick thinker; ability to take additional responsibilities as needed; capable of taking strong initiative/handle multiple tasks from start to finish; strong work ethic. 5 to 7 plus years related product management/product marketing/product development/engineering or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in marketing of commercial electrical products preferred. Proven work history of successfully launching new products through a phase-gate process.
Skills: Strong PC skills, including a very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint; General working knowledge of SAP system required
