Description of Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the Company's claims, litigation, quality and environmental matters, either directly or through the retention and oversight of outside counsel, to generate successful outcomes. Provide periodic reporting to senior management regarding the status of same.
Oversee the monthly legal accrual reporting process and partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts regarding same.
Assist in providing U.S. and international employment law advice and counseling.
Develop and present topic specific trainings, including conducting training for internal stakeholders.
Assist in the development and implementation of HR processes and policies to address legal and compliance needs.
Support health & welfare benefits, retirement benefits, and compensation teams.
Provide sound legal advice and counsel to Southwire in complex and diverse matters affecting day-to-day operations by assisting, advising, investigating, researching and resolving legal matters.
Partner with the business to assess legal risks and develop strategic solutions to protect the Company's interests.
Effectively oversee outside counsel, including developing strategies which align with and achieve the Company's strategic business objectives, coordinating with the appropriate Southwire subject matter experts, and defining the Company's desired outcomes.
Manage a high-volume of legal projects.
Communicate key information to necessary stakeholders to ensure parties are properly informed.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a diversified background in commercial litigation management and employment law. The ideal individual is someone who thrives in a fast paced, team oriented professional group. Outstanding communication skills (both orally and in written form) and the ability to meet deadlines are a must. The ideal candidate will have the following:
Excellent academic credentials including a J.D. and state bar membership in good standing in at least one state.
At least 7 years of prior relevant professional experience.
Experience partnering with business managers and providing leadership at a growing company is highly desired.
An individual who is approachable, trustworthy and dependable with exceptional interpersonal skills; possesses superior intellect, with the ability to think critically and make clear and well-reasoned decisions; possesses a strong, pragmatic business acumen with the ability to recognize the broader consequences of legal advice; and is a strategic and innovative thinker who can deliver value to clients and find creative solutions to complex legal problems.
An individual who can deal effectively with strategic issues as well as tactical operational details, exercise sound judgment, and work independently as well as collaboratively and efficiently under time pressure.
