The Manager, Business Excellence is responsible for implementing key business improvement initiatives for new product introduction activities. They will define opportunities, analyzes data, designs manufacturing line flows, and improves business processes. Improvement initiatives are led by enlisting and influencing multi-functional teams that deliver tangible business results through the application of Lean and Six Sigma principles, methodologies and tools. Utilizing business, leadership and technical skills, the Site BE Manager/Leader will both execute projects and mentor all groups at the site, developing a continuous improvement culture.


Responsibilities


Responsible for developing a strategy and executing a plan to deliver process performance improvements related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost.


Leads project portfolio activities such as prioritization, resource allocation, performance measurement, and change management plans.


Develops strategy and execution plan to improve flow of products from suppliers to distribution centers.


Collaborates and partners with stakeholders across multiple functions to develop and execute continuous improvement strategies.


Is responsible for driving associates' engagement and for developing Lean and Six Sigma capabilities through coaching and mentoring at all levels (associate to management) within the site.


Sustains business improvement results through the application of Johnson and Johnson Production System (JJPS) that encompass Lean, Six Sigma, ME2, Do It Right, and other continuous improvement methodologies.


Follows and observes all regulatory requirements (GMP's, ISO, FDA, internal policies) applicable to area of responsibility.


Complies with J&J safety requirements and safe working conditions and practices in the department.


Leads change, connects with others and shapes the environment.


Demonstrates assertiveness & collaboration skills


Has a record of tangible improvements


Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills


Shows strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in an Engineering or Science discipline. An advanced degree, such an MS or an MBA is preferred.


A minimum of 8 years overall relevant experience is required


Experience in Manufacturing is preferred


Six Sigma certification such as Black Belt, Master Black Belt or Green Belt is preferred


Lean certification is strongly preferred


Experience including Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, Project Management and strong cross-functional experience is preferred


Experience in designing end-to-end supply chains is preferred.


Demonstrated ability to partner with other stakeholders (ie Quality Engineering, Product Engineering, R&D, etc.) to develop effective and efficient processes from project inception and resolve major, multi-faceted line improvement opportunities is preffered


Ability to optimize resources to meet/exceed production performance on quality, cost, delivery, and budget is preferred


Demonstrated ability to lead practices for Business Excellence professionals and develops capacity to leverage these across the organization is preferred


Experience coordinating systems or processes to review and drive progress on Operational Excellence and cost reduction efforts is preferred


Experience facilitating regular reviews & presentation of cost drivers to achieve product cost targets is required


Ability to deliver oral and written communications around process improvement projects and with clarity of objectives is required


Familiarity with FDA, GMP and ISO is preferred


Demonstrates organized, analytical approach to problem solving and an understanding of financial processes (standard cost development) and business planning is preferred


In depth understanding of production and quality control techniques is required


The ability to work overtime, off-shift hours and some holidays as needed by business is required.


This position will be located in Santa Clara, CA and may require up to 10% domestic & international travel.
