A day in the life at Wonderful:
We seek a Senior Director of Grants and Government Engagement, to join our Corporate Social Responsibility team. The ideal candidate will enhance the companys Education, Health & Wellness, and Community programs across the Central Valley of California through state and federal advocacy.
This position is based in Los Angeles, reports to the Executive Vice President of Education, and will work strategically with the Executive Leadership to identify and direct public policy and expenditures that will increase outcomes across all Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs where our employees live and work.
Master a detailed understanding of the companys different social impact departments and initiatives, with a focus on education while supporting health and wellness and community development.
Lead social impact departments in researching and assessing public funding opportunities and creating funding strategies.
Directly manage third party grant writers and grant seeking organizations from start to finish, with support from technical program staff as needed.
Project manage all grant applications, compliance and reporting requirements with other key program staff.
Maintain a grant calendar to ensure all proposal and reporting deadlines are met.
Establish post-award administration processes; assist with preparation of budgets and reports to ensure post-award compliance for all grant and contract requirements.
Actively engage with existing lobbyists in Sacramento and The Wonderful Company Governmental Affairs team to track federal and state education-related legislation.
Partner with internal stakeholders and external partners including advocacy organizations to build alliances that drive outcomes in public policy
Your contribution to Wonderful:
Minimum of five years of experience in grant writing, with demonstrated success winning grants or contracts from NIH, NSF, USDA, state agencies, or other comparable entities.
Strong writing skills with the ability to draft complex grant content.
Highly resourceful at sourcing grant opportunities.
Assertive and proactive management style to keep parties informed and on schedule.
Ability to stay highly organized and manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to review proposals and budgets for accuracy.
Working knowledge of funding agency policies and procedures for grant submissions and grant administration.
Technical interest and understanding of community health and/or education is a plus.
Bachelors degree in communications or similar field.
A strong work ethic with a willingness to "roll up sleeves" and do whatever it takes.
Ability to travel as domestically as needed.
