POSITION OBJECTIVES:


The Regional Director, Transplant Field Engagement is a field-based role and is responsible for leading a team of 7- 8 Transplant Account Managers within the Transplant field sales organization whose purpose is to achieve or exceed financial targets, as well as to achieve or exceed other goals to help strengthen the market position, penetration, representation and overall success of the franchise portfolio.


This role reports into the Head, Transplant Field Engagement and the individual is expected to implement strategic initiatives developed in partnership with the leadership team for the promotion of transplant products.


The Regional Director will develop a deep understanding of the business situation within their geographic territory and provides supplemental support for relationships with key centers within their region.


As the leader of a team within a complex business organization, the incumbent is responsible for hiring, leading, and coaching for success.


As a manager of others, the Regional Director, Transplant Field Engagement is not only accountable for his/her own compliance but also for the compliance of all individuals in his/her team. As such, leads the way and leads by example by demonstrating full knowledge and commitment to all applicable policies. Monitors adherence to Takeda policies and guidelines and acts according to established procedures to ensure all issues are addressed and resolved as required.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


Ensures the sales organization meets or exceeds set sales goals & other targets.


Assist in the development of sales strategies and tactics directed at Transplant Centers, HCPs, and other customer segments within the targeted universe, in order to achieve said goals and targets.


Translates strategy into actions and objectives for their region and takes an active role in communicating and reinforcing strategic vision to the field engagement team.


Conducts regular meetings with team to ensure a deep understanding of strategies, objectives, and tactics.


Implements strategy in the region and ensures the highest standards and representation of Takeda products consistent with guidelines, direction and key marketing strategies & positioning.


Maintain an in-depth understanding of the market by reviewing and analyzing market data and use this market/industry know-how to drive success in the region and share best practices nationally.


Serve as a liaison between the field and home office; prioritize and communicate relevant issues and ideas.


Work collaboratively with home office (eg training, marketing, reimbursement) to develop the most effective plans, processes, and programs for the product.


Problem-solve with Transplant Account Managers to identify ways to add value/help influence customers.


Motivate field engagement team and build awareness of Takeda's commitment to patient, trust, reputation, and business within transplant.


Monitor performance, recognize top performance, and address performance issues.


Provide continuous performance feedback, coaching, development and mentoring of salesforce.


Stays abreast of and helps forecast trends regarding the environment in which the team operates. This includes provider and institution trends, government regulations, health systems business trends, health plan strategies, healthcare delivery systems and patterns, patient trends, and more.


Provide strategic input to Marketing teams for development and continued evolution of the marketing plan.


Ensures that recommendations, communications, and decisions are only made in manners consistent with Takeda policies.


Acts promptly and decisively to address compliance and other concerns - in consultation with Manager, Compliance, Legal and/or HR.


60%: Responsible for meeting and exceeding sales objectives. This includes but is not limited to effective hiring of top talent, effective implementation of the fundamentals of selling and implementation of the marketing plan.


20%: Responsible for coordinating with broader commercial team (Marketing/Reimbursement/Patient Services) for the design and implementation of the U.S. business plans.


20%: Effectively assesses the development needs and initiates activity that will further develop field engagement members.


SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:


Direct: 7 - 8 Transplant Account Manager
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:


Required


Bachelor's degree - BS/BA.


Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a sales representative in the pharmaceutical, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries.


Previous experience as a first line manager.


Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify unique selling opportunities and adaptability to changing market conditions.


Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding financial and/or other quantitative targets, as well as qualitative goals.


Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data to develop strategic and actionable business plans to deliver sales results.


Demonstrated strong collaborative abilities.


Demonstrated ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a sales team providing timely feedback.


Very strong communication skills - Verbal, written and presentation skills.


Desired


Rare Disease, Ultra-rare disease, or Transplant sales leadership experience.


Experience developing/working with broad teams in centers of excellence.


Proven success in a key account management role.


Understanding of payer dynamics.


Product launch experience.


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:


Valid driver's license


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:


Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/client sites and to do field visits with sales team members, attend meetings on a local and national basis, and training.


Overnight travel


Regular travel to Boston for Home Office/Headquarters interactions


Travel 50-60%


OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Must live in region.
