Director of Engineering, Consumer Products

Vox Media is seeking a seasoned, curious, and engaging Director of Engineering to lead our Consumer Products group. Spanning Consumer Revenue, Commerce, and Editorial Product Experience teams, they support the portfolio of Vox Media brands and contribute to improving our consumer-centric approach to product development.
What you'll do:
Lead the effort to build and manage a talented team of engineers that is responsible for the design, planning, implementation and operation of our commerce, consumer revenue and audience experiences across the Vox Media brands.
You will unblock the teams work by collaborating with stakeholders across product, design, and engineering- removing obstacles before they slow down effort.
You will actively coach and support managers, conduct regular 1:1s for your reports, and evaluate their performance quarterly-setting actionable goals to push themselves, the team and the company to further excellence.
You will prioritize and plan the work of the team in close collaboration with your managers as well as product managers and designers.
You will help shape the direction of our tech stack to ensure performant, ethical and scalable products and services in a rapidly-shifting media landscape.
Your team is fully remote, so you'll be spending a good amount of time interacting with them over video calls, Slack, emails and Google docs.
This role will require you to recruit and hire great talent for the team as a representative for the organization.
