Job Description

In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve.

You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. You will required to use your independent discernment.

Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.

Job Responsibilities (Key Elements of Position):
  • Troubleshoot and provide technical support for manufacturing Assembly and Test processes.
  • Identify and implement safety, quality, throughput and cost improvements.
  • Coordinate maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation to support GM requirements.
  • Specify, develop, validate, and install new Assembly and Test Equipment, gauges, and tooling.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals to determine the lowest manufacturing cost for new processes.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes
  • You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area
  • You will keep regular contact with partners outside the work group
  • You will provide direction to small group of technical employees
  • You may evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment

Additional Job Description

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Assembly and Test Engineer.
  • Experience in error proofing, flow testing, and instrumentation.
  • Experience in gauge design and usage for precision components with micron tolerances.
  • Understand and interpret engineering prints. Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Ability to specify, purchase and qualify equipment using a global supply base.
  • Ability to travel to both domestic and international machine tool suppliers.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills to meet project goals and deadlines.

  • Experience in all levels of assembly - manual, semi-automated, power/free conveyors, servo-driven, and cam-driven.
  • Experience with high speed (1/second) assembly.
  • Experience with functional testing of precision engine components / sub-assemblies.
  • Knowledge/experience of fluid flow - hydraulic and pneumatic.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines.
