Privately held food distributor selling over 5,000 SKUs of beef, poultry, pork, lamb, veal, seafood, and a selection of frozen and processed foods. State of the art facility serving metro NY, NJ, CT, MA, DE, and some Mid-Atlantic states.
Serve as a liaison between the retail grocery chains and independent customers and the company focusing on assisting customers develop and execute their store programs to increase sales. Create and deliver a results-oriented merchandising strategy grounded in customer insights and that crafts long-term customer value.
Teach and mentor customers the proper ways to cut and merchandise meat products. Ability to speak fluently with different departmental cultures, such as Merchandising, Operations and Finance.
Perform yield tests, meat department case resets and planograms. Identify and market products to customers to increase sales in the store demographic. Keeps Sales teams on the status of merchandise shipments. Monitors inventory to ensure availability to ensure timely and efficient service. Prioritize and expedite high-demand and special orders. Resolve issues that may affect shipments and deliveries.
5+ years of experience working in the grocery industry working as a retail meat merchandiser or Meat Department or Team Leader with meat cutting experience.
Understanding of primary cuts, meat cutting principals, detailed cuts, equipment use, planograms related to case presentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Competent in expense control, labor targets, buying, merchandising, inventory control, category management and merchandising.
